Proctorsville accident sends driver, passenger to hospital

Police claim DUI to blame

— Vermont State Police responded to a single vehicle crash at 10:32 p.m., Dec. 17, at 203 Main St. in Proctorsville. Driver Paul Raucci, 24, of Connecticut was traveling east when he lost control of his 1994 Lexus sedan on a slushy, icy road surface.

The vehicle crossed the westbound lane and went off the north side of the road.

After leaving the road, the vehicle went up an embankment and rolled onto its roof.

Raucci was transported to Springfield Hospital with unknown injuries.

A passenger, Jerome Lacobelle, 20, was also transported to Springfield Hospital with a minor injury.

A second passenger, Charles Ruggiero, 21, was not injured.

Raucci was allegedly found to have been drinking and was processed for DUI.

Speed and poor road conditions are also considered contributing factors. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The Proctorsville Fire Department and Ludlow Ambulance also responded to the scene.
