Castleton — Freshman Anna Daniels was named the ECAC East Rookie of the Week after scoring Castleton's lone goal in a split with New England College and fourth-ranked Middlebury last weekend.
Daniels came up big for the Spartans on Friday night, scoring late in the third period against the Pilgrims, giving Castleton the 1-0 victory.
The Swedish forward is tied with teammate Nicoline Jensen as the third-leading scorer (1.30 ppg) in Division III women's ice hockey.
Daniels has a team-leading seven goals as well as six assists for 13 points.
Castleton finished its first semester with a 6-3-1 record. The Spartans return to action on Jan. 8, when they travel to face Potsdam St.
