Report of "suspicious man" triggered Poultney High School lock down

— On Dec. 20, at approximately 11:29 a.m., Vermont State Police received a call from Poultney Town Manager Jonas Rosenthal who reported the staff at the Poultney Elementary School were reporting a suspicious male on school grounds. The male failed to identify himself to staff and was located behind the school.

While enroute, state troopers was notified the school was in lock down.

As police officers arrived, they located the suspicious male behind the school speaking with Rosenthal.

During the investigation VSP learned the suspicious male posed no threat to the school or its occupants during this incident.

No further action was taken by law enforcement.
