Vergennes With a terrific line-up of talent and tunes, the Vergennes Opera House is preparing for its annual Broadway revue benefit show, “Broadway Direct”.
This year’s show will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. and will once again be hosted by Vergennes resident and Broadway veteran Bill Carmichael.
Proceeds from the best-of-Broadway show go to benefit the non-profit group Friends of the Vergennes Opera House (FVOH) who are responsible for the restoration and operation of the historic 1897 theater above the Vergennes City Hall.
This year’s concert features an unprecedented six performers and will be filled with classic tunes from Broadway shows including songs familiar to all as well as some hidden gems.
Tickets are $25 general admission, $20 for seniors/students, children 12 & under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Opera House, Classic Stitching in Vergennes, or online at www.vergennesoperahouse.org. This year’s performance is sponsored by Lang McLaughry Spera and Attorney Fred Peet.
The cast for this unique benefit is made up of some exceptional performers with a wide variety of Broadway, National, and Regional theater credits to their names.
Charlotte Munson New York credits include “Disenchanted”, “Fire on Flaming Roads”, and “The Hedge Fund” directed by Tony Spinosa. She has appeared locally in St. Michael’s Playhouse productions of “Into the Woods” and “The Pirates of Penzance” and in “Quilters” for the Vermont Stage Company. She was most recently seen as a finalist in the NY Musical Theatre Festival’s “Next Broadway Sensation” contest.
Craig Wells has appeared on Broadway in “Les Misérables” and “Chess” and Off-Broadway in “Forbidden Broadway”, “Closer Than Ever”, and “Balancing Act.” He also appeared in the National Tours of “Les Misérables” and “Pirates of Penzance”. His Regional Theatre credits include work with Syracuse Stage, Arena Stage, Jupiter Theater, St. Louis MUNY and St. Michael’s Playhouse.
