Morning fog blamed for SUV, tractor-trailer collision on I-91

— Interstate 91 in Rockingham, Vt., north of Exit 6 northbound, was closed several hours during the morning of Nov. 19 after a collision between a tractor trailer and a SUV is cleared up. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

A Ford Explorer, driven by Shawn Robison, 39, was traveling north on Interstate 91 this morning. He entered into a dense fog bank reducing visibility to a short distance.

A tractor-trailer rig, driven by John Gibbons, 66, of Illinois, stopped his vehicle in what he thought was the break down lane; he could no longer see the road due to the fog.

Robison collided with the driver's side of Gibbon's trailer causing Robison's vehicle to be totaled upon impact.

Robison was transported to Springfield Hospital for treatment due to injures sustained from the crash.

The northbound side of the Interstate was closed down for several hours as a result of this crash. The interstate has been reopened.
