Police target college-related drinking party

— Multiple police agencies were involved in a recent investgation conducted in the area of Castleton relating to underage drinking parties and public nuisance reports.

During a recent police sweep, two large parties were uncovered and four individuals were arrested.

The first party was located on Mechanic Street near the Castleton Village School.

A keg of beer was seized after minors were discovered drinking keg beer.

William Stuhle, 21, had purchased the keg from a local store.

Stuhler was arrested and issued a citation for enabling minors to consume alcohol.

At the second party, linked to Castleton State College football team members, three individuals were arrested.

The party goers included Castleton students and members of the football team.

The three arrested—Preston Morris Jones, 21, Cameron Mitchell Laundry, 21, and Cleveland A. Burwell, 22—were advised that they had hosted a party for the team following a recent home game.

Jones, Laundry,and Burwell were issued citations for enabling minors to consume alcohol.

Two violations for minors consuming alcohol were issued on the Castleton State College campus.

The agencies involved in the sweep included officers from Vermont Liquor Control, the Vermont State Police, and Castleton Police Department.
