VSO to celebrate Christmas in Brandon

Benefit for Boys & Girls Club, OVUHS Scholarship Fund

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Quintet and Counterpoint Holiday Concert will ring in the season at the Congregational Church in Brandon on Monday, Dec. 17,  beginning at 7:00 p.m. The concert is a joint benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of Brandon and the Benjamin White Memorial Scholarship Fund at Otter Valley Union High School.

The VSO Holiday Brass and Counterpoint concert, combining shining brass and brilliant voices, celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, and is a cherished event in Brandon. For this concert Counterpoint's new director, Nathaniel G. Lew, collaborates with the VSO Brass Quintet offering a festive program from medieval to modern, including Leroy Anderson's Christmas Festival, the Canadian Brass's bravura arrangement of The Twelve Days of Christmas, Bizet's March of the Kings, and traditional carols.

Tickets cost $22 for adults, $18 for students and seniors 65 and over, and free for children under age 18 with an adult ticket purchase. Tickets are available at the Brandon and Pittsfield branches of Lake Sunapee Bank and the Boys and Girls Club of Brandon, and by telephone at the VSO office, 800-876-9293, ext. 10. Doors will open to the public for the concert at 6:30 p.m.
