Police allege man of aggravated domestic assault

PANTON — On Feb. 19, Vermont State Police troopers from the New Haven Barracks responded to a residence in Panton for the report of a family fight. Investigation revealed an assault had taken place at the residence. According to police, Paul Erikson, 49, of Ferrisburgh was taken into custody and charged with aggravated domestic assault. Erikson was lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Center and was required to appear in Addison District Court on Feb. 20. bail was set at $1,000.

VSP trooper in accident

PANTON — On Feb. 19, Vermont State Police Trooper Doxsee, 26, was responding to an assault report in Panton when he lost traction on snow covered Panton Road. The trooper slid into an embankment. Doxsee’s 2010 Ford Crown Victoria cruiser sustained minor contact damage to the front bumper and damage to the rear tire. The trooper was uninjured.

Fire guts unoccupied Leicester house

LECEISTER — On Jan. 3, the Brandon and Pittsford Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at the residence of Jeff and Cheryl McDonough at 236 Sage Ct. in Leicester. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The residence sustained substantial damage to a large portion of the structure, but due to the rapid response of the fire departments involved, the home was spared from total destruction.

The Vermont State Police Fire Investigation Unit was requested for an origin and cause investigation. A Vermont State Police Detective, as well as a Vermont Division of Fire Safety Investigator responded to the scene for the aforementioned examination. The investigation later revealed the cause of the fire as not suspicious.
