— Publishing executive and former U.S. presidential candidate Steve Forbes will be the guest speaker at the 2013 Vermont Republican Party Spring Dinner. Forbes will speak Saturday, March 16, at the Hilton Hotel at 60 Battery St. in Burlington.

Forbes, a Republican, ran for president in 1996 and 2000. President Ronald Reagan appointed Forbes as the head of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in 1985. He has remained active in politics and is a Fox News national television contributor. In 2009, Forbes came out in opposition to union membership for police officers and firefighters; he called their union representatives “czars”.

According to Marty Searight of the Vermont GOP, a private reception with Forbes will be held at 6 p.m. followed by the dinner at 7 p.m. The dinner is by reservation only. To RSVP, call 802-223-3411.
