Middlebury The Middlebury Business Development Fund Advisory Board signed a letter of support for the controversial extension of foreign natural gas to Middlebury, which included the following:
•Access to natural gas is important for some high users of energy to help operate with lower overhead that will allow them to stay here and/or provide services at reduced costs.
•Natural gas can provide an alternative energy source as the state develops renewable thermal energy capacity.
•The cost of thermal energy in the Lake Champlain region is a hurdle to economic development and business recruitment so anything that can lower that cost will support town efforts
•Encourage Vermont Gas to engage the communities and households through which the pipeline will travel prior to any engineering.
