Young book readers in Ludlow

Letter to the Editor

— The Ludlow Rotary Club, in partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program, is providing a free book each month to children from birth until the day of their fifth birthday. The program is in place and children should be receiving books very soon. There is no cost to the children or their families whom participate in this program. See the display at Fletcher Memorial Library and check out some of the titles your child could own.

Just before Christmas, a friend of Rotary and member of the Top of the Hill Gang from Cavendish, Nancy Timmerman, contacted the club after reading of this program in local papers and requested additional information. Nancy had been making preparations for a holiday party and decided to forego the “Yankee Swap” idea and instead collect donations towards Imagination Library funding.

At a cost of $25 per child per year, Nancy’s donation of $180 will provide the Imagination Library literacy program to seven children. Our club graciously thanks Nancy and all members of the Top of the Hill Gang for its generosity in spreading a little holiday cheer to children in our area.

The Ludlow Rotary Club was chartered in January, 1927 and meets Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. at D.J.’s Restaurant.

The Ludlow Rotary Club services the Ludlow, Mt. Holly, Plymouth and Cavendish areas and provides local and international humanity services.
